Great South announces Volleyball award winners

The Great South Athletic Conference office announces the 2009 GSAC volleyball all-conference, all-freshman, all-academic and individual award winners.

Maryville College senior outside hitter Lindsy Little is the 2009 GSAC Volleyball Player of the Year. This is the second straight year Little has received the award. Little led the Lady Scots and was second in the GSAC with 275 kills. She was also fifth in hitting percentage and 10th in digs in the GSAC.

Middle hitter Hannah Akers of Maryville College is the 2009 GSAC Volleyball Freshman of the Year. Akers was fourth on the Lady Scots with 135 kills.

Junior setter Jennifer Granlund of Piedmont is the 2009 GSAC Libero of the Year. Granlund led the Lady Lions and the GSAC with 438 digs.

Kandis Schram of Maryille College is the 2009 GSAC Coach of the Year. This is the second straight year Schram has received the award and the eighth time overall. She led the Lady Scots to a 26-5 regular season record and their second straight GSAC regular season championship.
