Match 1 Salem defeats Spelman 3-0 by the scores of 25-5, 25-21, and 25-12. Christine Tillman had 11 kills for the Spirit while Randi Roppolo finished with 7 kills. Salem will advance to the 6:00 p.m. semi-final match against #1 seed Maryville College. Spelman ends their season 6-18.
Match 2 Huntingdon defeated LaGrange 3-0 by the scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-14. Clare Shannon paced the Hawks at the net with 8 kills. Jessica Sharker added 6 kills. Huntingdon (18-12) will advance to challenge #2 seed Piedmont at 8:00 p.m. LaGrange ends their season 7-26.
Match 3 #1 seed Maryville College advanced to the championship match on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Salem College by the scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-13. GSAC Player of the Year Lindsy Little paced MC at the net with 12 kills, 7 digs, and 3 solo blocks. Katherine Nadler posted 9 kills and 8 digs while Kristin Findley added 8 kills and 12 digs. Salem ends their season at 11-19.
Match #4 #2 seed Piedmont College advanced to the championship match on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Huntingdon by the scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-18. Heather Stafford, Michelle Tesina, and Nikki Cole each posted 8, 7, and 7 kills respectively for the Lions. Clare Shannon finished with 11 kills for Huntingdon who end their season with a 18-13 record.
Maryville (28-5) will host Piedmont (21-8) for the Great South Athletic Conference title match at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in MC’s Cooper Athletic Center.
