Maryville College students, faculty and staff will observe Earth Day with several events planned for April 15-26.
“Earth Week 2013” will include events such as film screenings, a recycling tour, an ice cream social and a litter clean-up event. All events are open to the public.
“With 43 years of history, Earth Day has become something that we shouldn’t only think about one day a year, but something we consider everyday,” said Adrienne Schwarte, MC associate professor of art and co-sponsor of Earth Week. “However, its yearly celebration is a great reminder that the earth provides us great sustenance, bountiful beauty and continual renewal, all worthy of sustainment through our actions and decisions. Earth Week at Maryville College is a host of events that are designed to remind us of what true gifts we have received in our planet and how to co-exist with it in a mutual relationship.”
