Three MC seniors are putting the finishing touches on a gallery of their artwork that will be displayed in an exhibit on the MC campus. The month-long exhibition, which begins April 7, is intended to showcase the painting and photography of art majors Amanda Baker, Michelle Curley and Meredith McCaslin.

On Monday, April 7, the MC Fine Arts Division will host a reception to mark the show’s opening. From 6 until 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center gallery, all three artists will be on hand to discuss their works, and the individual exhibitions will be available for viewing.

Baker, from Clinton, Tenn., will be exhibiting a series of photographs of performing artists and musicians entitled “The Working Artist.” Knoxville native Curley will show her collection of portrait paintings, “People We Know.” McCaslin, of Maryville, will present “Nature Around Us,” an exhibit of nature photography.

The show is a culminating project for all three graduating seniors. “We have been working with them [the three artists] all year on this exhibition,” said assistant professor of art Amy Campbell, speaking on behalf of the entire fine arts faculty. “We are very excited,” she added.

Works will be on display in the Fine Arts Center Gallery from April 7 to May 9. The Gallery is open daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Both the opening reception and the Gallery exhibit are free and open to the public.
