MC Jazz Band to present spring concert April 25

The Maryville College Jazz Band will present its 2013 Spring Concert on Thurs., April 25 at 7 p.m. in the Clayton Center for the Arts’ Harold and Jean Lambert Recital Hall.

The event is free and open to the public.

Directed by composer, educator and pianist Dr. Bill Swann, who is also chair of the Maryville College Division of Fine Arts, the band will perform “Sister Sadie” by Horace Silver; “Sunny” by Bobby Hebb; “Philadelphia Mambo” by Tito Puente; “Maiden Voyage” by Herbie Hancock; “Milestones” by Miles Davis; “Cariba” by Wes Montgomery; “Back at the Chicken Shack” by Jimmy Smith; and “Straight Life” by Freddie Hubbard.

Jazz Band members are: Sam Boring ‘13, bass; Ben Cecil ‘13, guitar; Chris Hickman ‘14, drums; Adam Loo ‘14, electric mandolin and electric violin; Colton McNabb ‘13, guitar; Donovan Reeves ‘13, piano; Sam Turpen ‘14, trombone; and Carrie West ‘15, soprano saxophone.
