Junior open house at MC

April 19, 2002

Maryville College will hold an open house for high school juniors on April 27. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Wilson Chapel.

Students will be able to meet current MC students, talk with faculty and tour the campus. Parents will have a session devoted to financial aid and campus life.

A welcome session will be held at 9 a.m. in Wilson Chapel and last about 20 minutes. Between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. students will be able to participate in academic programs in Bartlett Hall and tour the campus.

A typical open house has academic sessions where a professor from each department will speak to students.

"The junior open house will have an academic fair. Tables will be set up in Bartlett Hall with every division and major represented," said Assistant Dean of Admissions Wayne Dunn.

Students will get to move at their leisure to visit the tables that interest them. Dunn said that the open house will be more academically specific because every major will be represented.

Campus tours will be given by current MC students in the Student Foundation Organization.

Lunch will be available for $3 a person in Pearsons Dining Hall between noon and 1 p.m.

The campus bookstore will be open between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Great South Athletic Conference will hold its baseball and tennis tournaments at the College. "Blister in the Sun," an on campus carnival for students, will also be held the day of the open house.
