What is RSS?
If you’re online very much, you’ve probably seen that little orange XML icon on numerous websites, from the New York Times and CNN, to ESPN and USA Today. What is it? It indicates a site that provides RSS (Really Simple Syndication). RSS is a technology that delivers web content, such as Maryville College news, directly to you as it is updated on our site. It's a convenient way for you to keep up with news and events at MC in summary form, and then visit our web site to read content that interests you.
Ready to get MC news as soon as it’s available? Here’s how to start receiving the MC Feed.
Step 1: Get an RSS reader (also known as an aggregator). Some readers are free, some cost a little and some run within your web browser, like myYahoo. We like a reader called FeedDemon. It's not too pricey, it's customizable and it comes pre-populated with lots of feeds. There are product reviews and links to downloads at cnet.com. Do a little research, and you're sure to find one that you like.
Step 2: Copy the following URL and paste it into your reader.
http://www.maryvillecollege.edu/rss/mc-news.xml
Step 3: Start receiving and reading MC News as soon as it is published! It’s that simple.
