Bill ThomasStarting this month, the Scot-e-Newsletter will feature a Q&A-style profile of an alumnus or alumna of the College. Bill Thomas ’81, an actor whose recent credits include HBO’s series “Veep,” kicks it off.

Admissions’ “Meet Maryville” dates for the 2012-2013 school year are: Oct. 6, Nov. 10 and Feb. 2. Pass these dates on to prospective students who need to visit the campus!


Homecoming 2012 is Oct. 19-20! Reunion materials for classes whose graduation year ends in ‘2’ or ‘7’ are going out or will go out soon. Start making plans to be here!

Giblock
Exactly this time last year, biology major Steven Giblock ’12 was starting to enjoy the sand and water of the South Carolina coastline, but he wasn’t on vacation. Giblock, then a rising senior completing a major in biology, was collecting sand fiddler crabs for his Senior Study. Read more.

CLASS CHALLENGE CONTINUES FOR ANDERSON
Postcards will be in alumni mailboxes soon, as well as letters from class presidents (if they haven’t arrived, already!). The College is hoping to raise $1 million from alumni to renovate historic and iconic Anderson Hall. Please give to this important project.

2012 WALL OF FAME INDUCTEES ANNOUNCED

Lee Taylor ’77, Scott Fletcher ’89, Molly Hewa Sers ’93, Jennifer McCafferty-Cepero ’94, Thomas Smith ’95 and former football coach Phil Wilks will be inducted into the College’s Wall of Fame during Homecoming festivities Oct. 19. Read the release and make plans to attend!

ScotlandMORE THAN 30 ENJOY SCOTLAND TOUR WITH CHOIR

Alumni, parents, siblings and friends toured castles, cathedrals, cities and gardens. They tried haggis, black pudding and real Scottish shortbread. And they were inspired daily by the performances of the Concert Choir. Check out choir members’ blog and the Flickr account to learn more about last month’s trip to Scotland.
