Homecoming football games have been celebrated at MC since Oct. 26, 1934. The College crowned its first Homecoming queen in 1942.

Environmental Education CenterHomecoming is here!  Have you decided which new events you’ll be attending this weekend?

Basketball season approaching!  The annual Midnight Madness practice was held Wednesday night. Coaches Randy Lambert and Todd Wright are getting their teams ready for the season, which opens at home Nov. 15. Stay tuned!

For her Senior Study, sociology major Julie Pate ’09 looked at three well-known prison riots and factors that could have caused the uprisings. Read more.

Legends of Anderson Hall

Nancy HunterShe was Cornell educated and a world traveler, but most faculty, staff and students of the Lloyd years remember Nancy Hunter as a very capable and efficient assistant to the president. Upon her death in 1995, she left a sizable bequest to the College. Among the initiatives it funds is an annual award for dedicated staff members. To read more about Miss Hunter, other “Legends of Anderson Hall” and the related fund-raising project to renovate the interior of Anderson, visit the MC web site.

“GRACE ANATOMY” CHAPEL SERIES DRAWS CAMPUS COMMUNITY TO WORSHIP
Playing off the name of the hit TV show about a group of young doctors, Maryville College Campus Minister the Rev. Anne D. McKee has put together a unique chapel series that focuses on biblical passages that reference bodies and body parts. Read about it on the MC web site.

APPLICATION FEES WAIVED NEXT WEEK

The $25 application fee to apply to Maryville College will be waived Oct. 19-23. Encourage prospective students to find out more about “Application Week” and take advantage of this opportunity!

CENTER NAMES MORE STAFF

John Cherry John Cherry, the new marketing director for the Center, came on board Oct. 12. Margaret Forrester and Jessica Popek have also joined the Clayton Center team as administrative coordinator and box office manager, respectively.

ORCHESTRA OPENS ITS NEW SEASON OCT. 26

Musicians will perform Haydn’s “Symphony 104 in D Major” (“The London Symphony No. 7”), Alexander Borodin’s lively “In the Steppes of Central Asia” and selections from “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by Otto Nicolai. Visit the MC web site for more information.
