Here’s Your Roadmap in 6 Easy Steps to Financial Aid

01 :: Apply for Admission

Complete our free online application, send us your high school transcript and ACT/SAT test scores for review. You will receive an admission decision within two weeks after your file is complete.

02 :: Receive an Instant Merit Scholarship

Once you’ve been admitted, you will be awarded a Maryville College merit scholarship. This is based on your ACT/SAT superscores and high school GPA. Your merit award letter will be included in your acceptance packet. Students can try to increase their merit scholarship by retaking the ACT/SAT through the summer before they enroll at MC.

This is only a “starting point,” meaning that the total award will probably increase based on completing Steps #3 and #4 of this checklist.

03 :: Apply for MC Competitive Scholarships & Awards

Maryville College has several scholarships that are based on separate application, auditions and/or interviews for those who qualify. Deadlines for these applications vary. If a student cannot travel to campus for their audition/interview, they may contact the scholarship coordinator for other arrangements.

04 :: File Your FAFSA

The first step in filing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is apply for your FSA ID. Student and parents must create their own FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov. Then you can submit the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov starting October 1st. You will use your 2015 tax and income information and you may be able to use the IRS Date Retrieval Tool to import your tax information into your FAFSA. Families are encouraged to file the FAFSA early as possible since some federal funding is on a first-come, first-served basis. To send your FAFSA to Maryville College, please add MC to your list of selected schools by using our code 003505.

Maryville College's Financial Aid Office will receive your FAFSA in three business days.

05 :: Watch For Your Financial Aid Package

Based on the results of your FAFSA or your academic achievement, the Financial Aid Office will consider eligibility for federal and state aid. Federal and state aid includes:

Distribution of estimated financial aid packages begins in December, and your admissions counselor will contact you shortly after the package is received to explain the details and provide you with a cost worksheet.

06 :: Consider Your Additional Financial Aid Options

No matter what, you always have options at Maryville College. For example, the Federal Parent PLUS Loan program is available to help fund a Maryville education based on the parent's credit. Even if the parent is denied the loan, the student will be offered additional Stafford Loan funds. Maryville College can help you set up a Tuition Payment Plan, which offers you the opportunity to pay any remaining balance in affordable interest-free monthly installments. Please visit the financial aid website for further details or contact your Admissions Counselor directly.

In addition, apply for outside scholarships! Your high school guidance counselor is a great resource to let you know about local scholarships available for first-year students. Also, research online at College Board and ACT.org for additional national scholarships. Millions of dollars of scholarships go unclaimed every year, and you can't gain anything if you don't apply for them!

How do I apply for Financial Aid at Maryville College?

After October 1st, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you plan on signing the FAFSA electronically, you and your parent (if you are a dependent student) must apply for a FSA ID. You may apply for a FSA ID at www.fsaid.ed.gov. We recommend that students apply for a FSA ID to not only electronically sign their FAFSA, but also to track the processing of the FAFSA, make corrections online if necessary, and access all of their federal student aid records online, including federal student loan information. In order for your FAFSA to be sent to Maryville College please add our school code (003505) to the application.  Once we receive your FAFSA, you will be sent an estimated financial aid package. Your Admissions Counselor will go over the details of the package with you.
