About Maryville College

Founded in 1819, it is the 12th oldest institution of higher learning in the South and maintains an affiliation with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Known for its academic rigor and its focus on the liberal arts, Maryville is where students come to stretch their minds, stretch themselves and learn how to make a difference in the world. Total enrollment for the fall 2009 semester was 1,103 students.

Maryville’s climate is warm during the summer when temperatures tend to be in the 70's Fahrenheit (21 to 26 Celsius) and very cold during winter when temperatures tend to be in the 30's (-1 to 4 Celsius). The warmest month of the year is July, while the coldest month of the year is January. Because of its close proximity to the mountains, the weather in Maryville can be somewhat unpredictable and variable; it can go from windy and rainy to sunny and warm within a few hours.
