Residence Hall Breaks

During the November, Winter  and Spring Break the residence halls on campus close, and we ask our students who live on campus to head home for those breaks. For each of these breaks we have a departure deadline:

November Break: Halls close the Tuesday before the holiday at 9:00 p.m.
Winter Break: We ask that all students depart within 24 hours of their last final exam. Halls close the Wednesday of finals week at 9:00 p.m.
Spring Break: Halls close at 9:00 p.m. on Friday before the break.

For each of these breaks, the Residence Life staff will be conducting their monthly Health and Safety Inspections At each hall close.

Halls Closing Health & Safety Inspection Checklist:

Break Stay Process

We realize that not all students can leave by the hall closing time and date. Students who need to stay past hall closing or arrive earlier than hall opening must complete a break housing application in the housing portal. The break stay application is open 2-3 weeks leading up to the break. Reminders are posted in the residence halls and students receive email notifications when the application is live.

  • Students must apply to be considered for approval to stay in their assigned room.
  • Students must be in good academic & financial standing with the College.
  • Students may incur a $50/night break stay fee. The fee is applied to their account after the break.
  • Students should be aware that there are no meal services during the break and should plan accordingly.
  • Students must follow All Break Housing Policies or risk termination of the agreement.
