Apply to Study/Intern Abroad

APPLY HERE

Depending on which program you select, there will be a different application form to fill out.  Use the information here as a guide to which form to use.

  1. Find a program & click APPLY NOW on the program brochure to apply for that program.  Our application portal is through Via-TRM

Welcome to the application process for your upcoming educational adventure abroad! We’re excited to guide you through the steps to make your dream of studying in another country a reality.

Applying to study abroad is a two-step process. Students must apply both through MC via our website and through their chosen program or host university. Why? Think of it this way–the internal MC application gives students approval to study abroad as an actively enrolled MC student through a select list of programs based on our requirements. The external program application (the application you submit through your provider or host institution) constitutes applying for admission as an international student to a university or program abroad based on requirements set by that program or host institution.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:

1. Via-TRM Portal Application: Begin by applying for your education abroad program through the Via-TRM portal. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) for guidance on which forms to complete. Remember to request academic references at least two weeks before the application deadline.  (link above)

2. Nomination Letter and Partner Application Forms: After applying, the CGE will send you a nomination letter and assist you with the study abroad partner application forms. Ensure you have all necessary documents in order.

3. Interview with the International Programming Committee: Prepare for an interview with the International Programming Committee. The CGE will provide you with a nomination letter, a budget sheet (if needed), and continue assisting you with partner application forms throughout this process.

4. Complete Education Abroad Partner Forms: Depending on your chosen program (ISEP, CIS Abroad, ISA/TEAN, BarcelonaSAE, CEA Study Abroad/CAPA InternHQ, Volunteer HQ, or Host Institution), complete the required application forms (yes you often have another application to complete – don’t worry you can use the same materials). Some programs may also require Study Abroad/Academic Advisor forms, which should be directed to the Center for Global Engagement.

Register for OVS 203: Don’t forget to register for OVS 203 the semester prior to your departure. This applies to all semester, summer, study, intern, or volunteer abroad credit-bearing programs.

We’re here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the CGE. Best of luck with your application!

It takes some planning to study abroad.  Students generally apply a year in advance for MC study abroad programs, so start thinking about your goals for going abroad and where you want to go early.  Here is the process you should follow:

  1. Explore your options on this site.
  2. Visit the Center for Global Engagement (CGE). Fill out this inquiry form.
  3. Talk to your Academic Advisor about your desire to study abroad and any academic requirements you should be looking to complete.
  4. Apply for the Program. The CGE can help you with the application.  (generally from 6 months [summer] to 1 year in advance)
  5. Study Abroad interview with the International Programming Committee.
  6. Take OVS 203 the semester before you study abroad (semester/summer programs) – This is a pre-req for study abroad.  Travel Study Programs have their own pre-departure program unique to each destination.
