Robert “Bobby” Floyd ’06 has been offered the position of Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Program Manager for the Department of the Army Management Office (DAMO) at the Pentagon. He will head the program that repairs and conditions maneuver land before and after military training events. The position entails environmental policy work pertaining to subjects like prescribed fire implementation, NEPA, endangered species compliance, wetlands, etc. He says, “That liberal arts education is paying off!”

Jeremy "Jay" J. Hart

Jeremy James Hart, known by many of his friends as "Jay", unexpectedly passed away in Marietta, GA at the age of 35. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Barbara J. Hart, his father, Russell J. Hart, Sr.(Gerline), ex-wife Eva Hart, their two beautiful children, Jada Moria and Christopher James (C.J.) Hart, his sister, Leslie Langford, his sister, Russchel Jackson-Hart (Owen), his brother, Russell James Hart Jr. (Carmen),his step-brothers Jesse Harvel (Kim), Terrance Harvel and Jerome Lamar Williams. Jeremy is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Jeremy attended Lassiter High School, Marietta, and is a graduate of Maryville College, Knoxville, TN. He was a Claims Specialist at State Farm Insurance Company. Jeremy loved his family and friends. He was a very devoted father to his children and did anything he had to do to take care of them, even learning to do Jada's hair. Jeremy was a sports fan, and he always made it a point to stay involved in his children's extra-curricular activities. Jeremy was recently promoted as defensive line coordinator for the Georgia Cardinals, an accomplishment and position he was extremely proud of. Jeremy came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 12. He was an active member of Crossview Church, Marietta, GA. ~A Message From The Family~ "Jay" was such a warm and loving person – like a gentle giant. He never complained about anything, and was accepting of everything. He tried hard to work for the things that would improve life for his family. We know this, Jeremy – we always did. We are going to miss you very much. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Crossview Church, 1100 Piedmont Road, Marietta on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11 AM.

Bobby J. Sadler

“Bobby”, 26, of Dover, FL departed this life on Dec. 5, 2010. He was a 2002 graduate of Durant High School where he was a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish Honor Society, and the football and wrestling teams, and a 2006 graduate of Maryville College, Maryville, TN where he was a member of the Scots football team. He was a teacher, and found his passion teaching autistic children. He is survived by his parents, Robert J. “Bob” and Glenda Sadler of Dover; grandparents, Robert J. Sadler, Sr. of Brandon, and Edward and Annette Weeks of Dover; and great-grand-mother, Avis Weeks of Dover.

received the Outstanding Instructor Award by Scuba Diving International (SDI) in recognition of exceptional scuba diving instruction, outstanding contributions and dedication to the sport for 2014. Michael previously received the recognition in 2011 and 2013 and is now teaching SDI and NAUI courses in scuba diving in Stuart, Florida.

Michael “Mike” Edward Smith, 35 of Stuart, FL passed away August 28, 2018 at his home. Mike was born April 13, 1983 in Asheville, NC he lived most of his life in North Carolina and moved to Stuart three years ago. He worked for Stuart Scuba. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Mary, loving sister, Monica Elizabeth and cherished son, Joshua Michael. He joins his father, Edward Dyal Smith who preceded him in death. For those who would like to make a memorial contribution in Mike’s memory the family would like to suggest, Maryville College, 502 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TX 37804; Diveheart, 900 Ogden Ave, #274 Downers Grove IL 60515 (to find out more information about this non-profit see their websitewww.diveheart.org) or the family will be establishing an education fund for Mike’s son, Joshua. has been hired as an admissions completer for 2tor, a company that partners with preeminent institutions of higher education to deliver rigorous, selective degree programs online to students globally. Previously, she worked as an ethnographical researcher for Howard University’s Center of Urban Progress. She earned a master’s degree from Howard in 2011.

Susannah Wilson

Memoriam

Susannah Frances Wilson 39, of Etowah, TN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and best friend on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Emily Addison Beavers; her parents, Dr. Charles and Missy Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Ruthie Wilson; niece, Olive Wilson; grandmother, Fran Dorward, all of McMinn County; her aunt, Elaine Dorward-King of Park City, Utah.

Susannah graduated from McMinn Central High School and attended Maryville college before entering the U.S. Navy where she served in Sicily and Djibouti. After her Navy service she worked as the Monroe County Veterans Service Officer and with other veteran programs, tirelessly advocating for all veterans. Her supervisor, the Madisonville mayor, said she was good at her job “because she really cared.” She was praised by many veterans and active duty personnel for her concern, humor, support, and readiness to respond to them. Susannah was known for her fierce love of her daughter, her delight in Harry Potter, her insistence that the rules of grammar be followed, her panache for dressing up for holidays, especially Halloween, and for her sometimes acerbic kidding of her friends and family.
