Class of 2016
has been accepted into the Hult International School of Business’ Master of Finance program in Boston, MA where he will study for seven months. The remaining 4 months of the program he will study abroad at one of Hult’s international locations.

Cole has been accepted into the College Student Personnel Master’s program at the University of Tennessee. He will start Fall 2016. This program is a two-year, practitioner-oriented master’s degree designed to prepare student personnel administrators to address the administrative needs of colleges and universities.

Cole completed his master’s degree in College Student Personnel at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in May and shortly thereafter he began his position as the Director of Student Career Management in the Supply Chain Department at UTK.

Has gotten a position as an English Language Arts and Reading Teacher at the Esperanza Academy in Lawrence, MA. It is a private, Episcopal, all-girls middle school in which all of the students are from disadvantaged, low income homes, but have a passion for learning and education. The school provides a rigorous curriculum and a vast array of extra curricular activities to prepare students for admission into some of New England’s top boarding schools. MarQuis will be teaching several sections of English Language Arts in addition to serving as an academic advisor and supervising extra curricular theater and music programs.

Chandni Dularam will enter the MAcc (Masters of Accountancy) Program at UT Knoxville starting Fall 2016. Through a partnership with MC, students admitted to the MAcc program take 3 courses in the summer at UT following their May graduation and enter directly into the UT Macc Program 30 hour program that fall. During her time at MC, Chandni has engaged in 2 internships including one with Pennant Foods. She also served as a tutor for several accounting classes – BUS215 and BUS365 and BUS366.

Kaylie Hall ’16 has accepted a full-fime therapist position at The Village Behavioral Health in Louisville, TN.

Alexandra Hutson (‘16) and Jacob Hutson (‘16) welcomed their first child, Elsie Grace Hutson on February 17 2023. They currently live in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Alexandra serves as the Associate Pastor at Government Street Presbyterian Church in Mobile, Alabama. Jacob works remotely for Veryable as the Southeast Team Support and Development Specialist.

WVLT interviewed Lizzie Ruch Smith ’16 during one of their newscasts. Lizzie Ruch Smith ’16, a music teacher in Texas, wrote a song to sum up how she feels about the transition to online learning and teaching. She posted the video to TikTok, and now the video is going viral. Eric Russell ’16 has been accepted into the Cognitive Psych PhD program at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA for fall 2018.

age 21, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He graduated from Maryville College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. He loved kayaking, hiking, camping, rock climbing and outdoor adventures. He was a leader among his friends and will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by mother, Sara Latham, and grandmother, Kathy Latham. Survivors include; uncle, Perry Latham; aunt, Olive Clore; uncle, Eddie Carmichael; great-grandmother, Evelyn Latham; aunts, Vickie Latham, Betty Latham, and Regina Segars. The family received friends Friday, July 29, 2016 with a memorial servicefollowing at 7 pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. with Rev. Mike Vandergriff officiating. In November 2020, Maddy Little (’17) and Joel Thornton (’16) were married in a small ceremony on the Isle of Palms, SC. Many Maryville College friends and alumni traveled from all over to celebrate with the happy couple who initially met on their first day of Orientation at MC in late summer of 2012.
